Finding Mukesh

Hi guys! So this post is all about how you can find the Maliwara Chauraha in the ever-crowded Chandni Chowk. We were asked to create an individual map for our macro area by exploring various materials! Have a look!

I've used thread and needle to make a pattern on the cloth and I've painted rest of the cloth using acrylic paints.

Imagine the amount of stress Mukesh must be going through, considering the amount of space he has for his business! I mean, it's definitely not as much the stress I'm in, 2 days before the jury, when I should technically be done with all my work. But then I'm here. LOL. Never mind.

So I decided to finally be a little productive and help him out. Basically, this post is about my design brief. To start off, a design brief is a brief description about the logic behind my idea and how i want to move ahead with it. So here goes!

AIM: To create a new model for the shop which will efficiently solve the problem

OBJECTIVE: To create storage as well as better display for the shop in the given space

IDEATION: After all the research I've done about my macro and micro areas, I've come up with an idea for efficient storage and product arrangement.

The shop I've chosen, is an imitation jewellery shop. I need to develop a design which is compact as well as capable of systematic product arrangement.After the display, I have to come up with storage compartments for the remaining jewellery pieces. The idea that i came up with is using an adjustable and compressible stand for display. It'll help him to display more using minimum space

Q. How many workers are there?
A.Only one. Rahul Kumar(naam toh suna hoga XD), 18 year old boy who's working here for about 2 months now.

A.It was commenced 15 years ago.

A. I open the shop at 12 noon and close it at 7pm.

Q.What was your father's occupation?
A.He used to sell DVD players near Lal Kila.

Q.What is interesting about your product?
A.The most interesting thing is that I sell a new design everyday.

A.I import hem from BOMBAY.

Q. Do you have a godown?
A. No,I have to store the jewellery here or at my house.

Q.What all problems do you face?
A.I really have some space issues as well as arrangement issues. Half of the time is wasted on setting up the jewellery and removing it.

The Maliwara intersection

The Maliwara intersection is where my opportunity area is located.

It's located between Kinari bazaar and Nai sarak. It's 1.5km long and has been existing since 1950's.
At first he area was mainly residential,however now there's a transition from MAKAAN to DUKAAN

It is one of the safest area in Chandni Chowk.There's 1 clinic and a school.

Even though it's located in the minute area of chandni chowk, it's crowded all the time.

We can buy items such as Sarees, Imitation jewellery and fill our tummies with delicious Pakodas and Matar kulcha :D

KINAARI BAZAAR

If there is a wedding in the family, this is the place to shop. The market is known for all types of wedding finery – sehra or grooms turbans, ornate lehengas, bridal veils, gold brocade sherwanis, in fact the entire bridal trousseau is available both on hire and for sale. There are countless little shops selling garlands made of gold and silver tinsel, crisp currency notes, colourful beads, colourful gleaming sequins and so on. In embroidery, kinari means edging or borders – so the small market is replete with ribbons and borders for saris and salwars. The collection is huge – plain, silver and gold textured patterns, gold strings, mirror-work, kundan, sequin, lace, embroidery, embellishments galore! The borders come in lots of colours and varying widths, from thin ribbon strings to four-inch borders for lehengas. Borders are normally sold as nine-meter pieces and cost anything between Rs. 400 and Rs. 3000 each ,depending on the work. This market also has some shops which sell gift boxes, tissue cloth bags, ribbons and gold- plated trays for weddings or special occasions. Also available are aesthetic gift wraps and envelopes for gift cheques and cash as well.

ASSESSMENT :O ALREADYYY ??

Hey guys :D

Last week we had our formative assessment and that too took a week to prepare it :P

The assessment went as per the plan ( wuhhuuu ) 

We got some great feedback from all our faculty. Trust me it's a relieve when you feel you've not been able to do anything productive in the module :')

My individual feedback was not too bad either. All that was expected from me was more visuals, more colour, so that the log book looks all the more attractive.

So basically, by the end of it, it was a good good day. We are now moving towards the 2nd phase i.e. the next 4 weeks of the module and we have loads to do.
